We defrost our salmon and marinate it in soy sauce for 20 minutes or so. Sockeye Salmon is low in fat so you don’t need to cook it too long. It is easy to overcook. Depending on the size of the fillet it may only take 4-5 minutes on each side. Lightly coat skin with olive oil to prevent sticking, and start by grilling skin side down on a medium temperature. When the salmon flakes with a fork, it’s done. King salmon may take a bit longer as most filets are fatty and thicker. In our opinion, King salmon is best grilled.
